Miami Valley Community Action Partnership has partnered with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services to serve Montgomery County residents at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. There must also be a minor child residing with a parent, specified relative, legal guardian or legal custodian. A minor child is defined as an individual who is under 18 OR an individual who is over 18 and a full-time student in a secondary school or the equivalent.

In March 2025, we have revised our process to serve you better while we work to increase our capacity. Our application portal will open every Monday at 9 a.m. and remain open until that week’s appointments are full.

You must submit your application before you will be given an appointment time. Follow these steps.

  1. Choose the service or services you want to apply for and click on the service page to see a list of required documentation.
  2. Gather your documents and click the APPLY button.
  3. Submit your application and you will be automatically directed to upload your documents. See below for upload instructions.
  4. Submit your documents.
  5. Check your email FREQUENTLY for your appointment time and/or next steps.

Each service has a monetary cap, see individual pages for details.
Applicants may request multiple services, but services may not exceed $3,000 in a 12-month period.
Each service can only be paid once every 12 months.

After submitting your application, please check your email frequently. Emails will come from @mvcap.com. Please add that extension to your known senders list to avoid delays.

If you do not have an email, a letter will be mailed to you.

If your application is approved, checks are issued by Montgomery County Job and Family Services within 30 days of the approval notification from MVCAP.

How to Upload Documents

Depending on how you are applying there are different ways to upload documents.
1. On a phone or tablet with document taking photos of documents when requested (Preferred method):
When you are in the application, there is a box that says tap here to access photos or drag and drop from desktop. TAP in that box.
A message will pop up showing 3 options. Choose Take Photo or Video
Your camera will open for you to take photos. View the photo and if it is clear, readable, and complete, tap use photo. If not tap retake and try again.
2. On a phone or tablet with document photos taken in advance and saved to your device:
When you are in the application, there is a box that says tap here to access photos or drag and drop from desktop. TAP in that box.
A message will pop up showing 3 options. Choose: Photo Library
Select the ones you want to upload a blue check mark will appear in the lower right corner of the photo.
Once you have selected all the photos to upload click Add in the top right corner of your screen corner of your screen corner of your screen corner of your screen.
3.On a desktop you can simply drag and drop or click in the box which will open your files, and you can choose the ones you want. (Easiest method)
