MVCAP Publishes Annual Report
Miami Valley Community Action Partnership (MVCAP) highlights meaningful community progress in its new Annual Report.
“In every corner of our region, families are working hard to build brighter futures,” said President and CEO Erin Jeffries. “Our role is to work alongside them by assisting in moments of crisis, investing in long-term solutions and helping create pathways to self-sufficiency.”
MVCAP has served the community for 60 years providing programs in Darke, Greene, Montgomery and Preble counties. Programs include assistance with utility payments, weatherization, emergency home repair, emergency and transitional housing and more.
Funding for MVCAP programs comes primarily from federal grants. State, local and private grants are also received along with individual donations. MVCAP is proud that its administrative costs are only 12.8 percent of its total budget.
In addition to the four core counties, MVCAP provides weatherization in Auglaize, Butler, Mercer and Warren counties as well as housing services in Miami County. MVCAP also administers the Metropolitan Housing Authority for both Darke and Preble counties.
“All our programs are designed to help people of all ages secure the opportunities they need to obtain and maintain economic security,” Jeffries added. “In the past three years, MVCAP has been a keystone in rebuilding and renewing lives in the Miami Valley.”
MVCAP worked with multiple partners to help families recover from the 2019 Memorial Day tornadoes. When COVID-19 upended virtually every aspect of daily life, MVCAP remained open distributing more than $20 million in Emergency Rental Assistance, preventing evictions and maintaining utilities for hundreds of residents.
The report includes statistics on each of MVCAP’s programs as well as multiple stories of successful clients and highlights about the agency’s staff.
