MVCAP Hosts ODJFS, Damschroder
MVCAP welcomed Matthew Damschroder, Director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services last month.
Director Damschroder has made it a priority to visit Community Action Agencies in preparation for the transition of CAA programs from the Ohio Department of Development to ODJFS which will be finalized on July 1.
After touring the Main Street headquarters, President and CEO Erin Jeffries and her leadership team also showed Damschroder and Chief of Staff Molly Rafeld the Ohio Weatherization Training Center’s Southwest Hub.
“We were grateful to host Director Matthew Damschroder as we prepare for the upcoming transition to ODJFS,” Jeffries said. “Together, we’re focused on what matters most – improving access, coordination and stability for individuals and families who rely on Community Action.”
The change in monitoring and funding from ODOD to ODJFS will not immediately affect MVCAP operations, Jeffries added. Federal dollars that come to MVCAP will now flow through a different state department. ODJFS will take over the responsibility for approving and overseeing MVCAP’s grant plans and allocating funds based on federal formulas.
“Services will continue as usual for our clients and community partners,” Jeffries said. “Our mission remains the same and we’re confident that this behind-the-scenes change will make our work even more impactful and efficient.”
