MVCAP provides a variety of services to domestic violence survivors and their children designed to improve personal safety, encourage self-sufficiency and enable survivors to cope and re-enter the community safely.

Emergency shelter is provided at a confidential location in Preble County. Those in shelter are also offered trauma-informed case management as they look for permanent housing and other needed solutions. Case management is also offered to those who don’t need shelter.

Services may include:

  • crisis intervention
  • safety planning
  • legal advocacy and support to file charges and obtain legal protections
  • outreach
  • support and educational groups
  • goal planning
  • individual advocacy
  • food, clothing and personal care items
  • transportation support
  • follow up case management and referrals

MVCAP is a member of the Ohio Domestic Violence Network and chairs the Preble County Domestic Violence Committee. MVCAP partners with SICSA and the Humane Society of Greater Dayton to shelter clients’ pets while they are in emergency shelter. Thanks to the More Than a Phone program, MVCAP can provide safe smartphones with free data.

The program is made possible by a grant from the Ohio Attorney General’s office and support from local funders.

Donations are accepted to help keep the shelter stocked with essential hygiene and cleaning supplies. Drop off at the Preble County MVCAP office at 308 Eaton-Lewisburg Road, Eaton or the the MVCAP Domestic Violence Services office at 204 North Barron St., Suite C, Eaton.
