Darke Shelter Welcomes New Manager
MVCAP’s Darke County Emergency Shelter recently welcomed a new Residential Property Manager, Tracey Branche, and her journey is nothing short of inspiring.
Tracey moved from Pennsylvania to Sidney to be closer to family. A hard worker and gainfully employed all her life, she spent years caring for others as a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) and putting in long hours at local warehouses.
A devastating automobile accident changed everything, leaving Tracey disabled and unable to continue working. Losing her livelihood and independence was incredibly difficult. After exhausting all options, Tracey turned to the Shelby County Shelter for support. When her stay there ended, she was referred to our Darke County Emergency Shelter.
At the time, the shelter was full, so Tracey spent several weeks in a local motel, waiting patiently for an opening.
After more than a year and a half without a home of her own, Tracey has found not only stability but also purpose. She has stepped into her new role as Residential Shelter Manager at the very place that once offered her refuge. The manager has a separate apartment on the lower level of the shelter and assists with laundry, yard work and other maintenance at the building.
Her personal experience and compassion now guide her in helping others find their way from crisis to stability, just as she did.
