PNC Grant to Provide Move Out Assistance
MVCAP now offers Move Out Assistance to families exiting our emergency shelter in Greene County.
Thanks to funding from PNC Charitable Trusts, MVCAP will provide help with security deposits, first month’s rent, moving expenses, basic furniture and essential household items.
“Even after locating an affordable unit, many households cannot afford the items required to establish a home,” said President and CEO Erin Jeffries. “This funding will enable individuals and families to transition more quickly into permanent housing and increase the likelihood that they will remain stable.”
Move Out Assistance will be coordinated through case management services already offered to those in emergency shelter. MVCAP anticipates assisting approximately X families with this funding. Assistance is prioritized based on need, vulnerability and the absence of other resources.
“For a household with very limited income, these one-time costs can make an otherwise attainable housing opportunity inaccessible,” Jeffries added. “Moving without beds, basic kitchen supplies or other necessities can undermine housing stability and increase the risk fo returning to homelessness.
