Leadership Advocates with COHHIO at Statehouse
MVCAP Directors were among the 170 advocates meeting with legislative offices for COHHIO’s Annual Statehouse Advocacy Day.
The Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in Ohio (COHHIO) provided training and talking points for 88 meetings with legislators and staff. Topics included the shortage of affordable housing in Ohio, the importance of the Ohio Housing Trust Fund, tenant protection and eviction prevention.
Darke County Director Megan Campbell and Domestic Violence Services Director Courtney Griffith led a team who met with aides for Senator Susan Manchester (R-Sidney), and aides for Representatives Tim Barhorst (R- Sidney) and Brian Lampton (R-Beavercreek).
“It’s important to get in front of our legislators and share firsthand the challenges we see in our communities surrounding homelessness, housing instability and the lack of affordable housing,” Campbell said. “I was grateful for the opportunity to help ensure the voices of the individuals and families we serve are heard.”
Greene County Director Brent Robinson and Case Manager Nick Trimbach met with aides for Senator Willis Blackshear, Jr. (D-Dayton), Rep. Andrea White (R-Kettering), Rep. Bernard Willis, (R-Springfield), and Rep. Levi Dean (R-Xenia).
