Greene County Families Receive Beds, More

Two families transitioning out of emergency shelter in Greene County participated in a Hope to Dream event hosted by the United Way of the Greater Dayton Area.

The partnership between the United Way and Morris Home provides at least 100 brand-new beds every year to children across Montgomery, Greene and Preble counties. The most recent event was hosted by Greene County Family and Children First Council at Snap Fitness in Xenia.

“Every child will bring home a comprehensive setup designed for deep, healthy sleep: a premium twin mattress, a sturdy bed frame, crisp sheets, a pillow, a cozy comforter, and a protective mattress cover,” the United Way said in a statement. “Beyond providing immediate physical comfort, the core purpose of the Hope to Dream event is to serve as a vital gateway for long-term stability.”

Hope to Dream presented new beds, bedding and even Teddy bears to 12 Xenia children. The two families from MVCAP were in the process of transitioning into safe, affordable housing, said MVCAP’s Greene County Director Brent Robinson.
