WHERE: The Charity Early Room in the David H. Ponitz Center, Building 12, Sinclair Community College.
WHY: 2014 is the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Community Action Network of agencies. During the event, CAP Dayton will honor its past, celebrate the present and look ahead to the future. The agency’s mission is “to work in partnership with local communities to eliminate the causes and conditions of poverty and to promote individual independence and self-sufficiency.”
The Honorable Walter H. Rice, Judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, will be the special guest speaker.
The agency will present the Dr. Charles W. Peckham Award for  Humanitarian Leadership to Donald Nguyen, M.D., pediatric urologist at Dayton Children’s Hospital and Ohio co-director of Doctors for America, a national movement of physicians and medical students working together to improve the health of the nation and to ensure that everyone has access to affordable, high-quality health care. Doctors for America represent 15,000 physicians and medical students in all 50 states.
Entertainment will be provided by Stivers School for the Arts. The agency’s 2013 Annual Report will be released and there will be an awards presentation
