WHO: Staff, members of the Board of Trustees, customers, supporters and friends of the Community Action Partnership of the Greater Dayton Area.
WHAT: The 46th Annual Meeting and Luncheon, “Serving Our Families, Our Communities, Our Region.”
WHEN: Tuesday, April 13, beginning at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., with the program to follow.
WHERE: The Charity Early room in the David H. Ponitz Center, Building 12, Sinclair Community College.
WHY: The theme “Serving Our Families, Our Communities, Our Region” represents Community Action Partnership’s mission of helping people and changing lives throughout the Dayton region.
Glenn Faircloth, Ph.D., principal of the David H. Ponitz Career Technology Center (CTC), is the special guest speaker. The Ponitz CTC is a brand new high school designed to pave the way to college for urban students. A partnership of Sinclair Community College and the Dayton Public Schools, the Ponitz CTC opened in August 2009 with over 500 students.
If there’s anyone who can reach the hearts and minds of those students and their parents, it is Faircloth. He understands the unique challenges of students–through the lens of someone who overcame them. A man who once called the streets his home, Faircloth rose from homelessness to a professional career, earning his doctorate from Miami University. He will share the impact families, communities and the region had on his growth and success.
The Annual Meeting and Luncheon will also include entertainment by students from the Stivers School for the Arts Jazz Quartet, a preview of the agency’s 2009 Annual Report, introduction of Community Action Partnership customers and an awards presentation.
