WHAT: Weatherization Day in  Montgomery, Preble, and Miami Counties. The events seek to increase awareness of the benefits of home weatherization.
WHEN: Montgomery County: Thursday, Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Preble County: Tuesday, Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Miami County: Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
WHERE: Montgomery County: at the agency’s parking lot at South Patterson Blvd. and South Main St. in Dayton, next to the agency’s offices at 719 S Main Street. Preble County: The Community Action Partnership office, 308 Eaton Lewisburg Rd. in Eaton. Miami County: Troy Community Park, 200 Adams St., across from the Hobart Arena in Troy.
WHY: Community Action Partnership of the Greater Dayton Area has weatherized more than 13,000 homes in the Miami Valley since 1976. The agency provides these free services to eligible Preble County residents. Properly weatherizing a home helps save homeowners up to 28 percent on their energy bills.
The Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) is a free energy efficiency program designed to help income-eligible families decrease costs and make their homes safer and more energy efficient.
The public is invited to see demonstrations of the home weatherization process and equipment. Staff will provide information on the program. Visitors will also be able to apply for the program at the event. Local social service providers will have information tables. Prizes and light refreshments will also be available.
