Thinking about starting a business? It’s an exciting but also challenging proposition. To succeed, you will need the right tools. Community Action Partnership of the Greater Dayton Area offers a course that can help prepare you for a brighter future.
The Micro-Enterprise Business Development and Training Program assists individuals interested in starting and maintaining their own business take the first step by learning to write a business plan. Through the program, participants learn valuable tips from experienced accountants, bankers, attorneys and other professionals.
“Over the years, our professionals have helped hundreds understand what it takes to start and run a small business,” says LaSandra Wright, Director of Micro-Enterprise and Computer Literacy for the Community Action Partnership of the Greater Dayton Area. “Our small classes provide individualized learning and encouragement. Students may also research business topics in our computer lab. On-site childcare is also available.”
“We cover the basics for what is a micro-enterprise and is business ownership right for me, to the nuts and bolts of running a sustainable enterprise like determining prices, analyzing competition and managing cash flows,” said RoShawn Winburn, Director of the Greater Dayton Minority Business Center and an instructor in the program.
“The goals of the Micro-Enterprise Business Development and Training Program are to provide motivated and committed entrepreneurs the opportunity to receive business training and technical assistance in a small classroom setting,” adds Wright.
Enrollment for the Micro-Enterprise Business Development and Training Program is limited and pre-registration is required. The next ten-week Micro-Enterprise class session begins Thursday, April 9, and continues through Thursday, June 11. Classes meet on Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Community Action Partnership office, 719 S. Main St. in Dayton.
