WHAT: The Fourth Annual Blue Moon Affair, a fundraiser for the agency’s youth programs.
WHEN: Friday, Sept. 30. Social hour begins at 6 p.m.; followed by dinner at 7:15 p.m. Program begins at approximately 8:15 p.m.
WHERE: The Benjamin & Marian Schuster Center for Performing Arts in downtown Dayton.
WHY: The Blue Moon Affair will celebrate Community Action Partnership’s efforts while raising funds to sustain the agency’s youth programming. The special guest speaker for the evening is best-selling author, national television personality and parenting expert Judge Glenda Hatchett. She presided over the syndicated television show “Judge Hatchett” and is the founder of Parent Power Now, the premiere online parenting network. She is also the author of “Dare to Take Charge” (Center Street) which was released in September 2010 and the national best-seller, “Say What You Mean, Mean What You Say” (HarperCollins).
The Blue Moon Affair raises funds for the agency’s Youth Empowerment Center (YEC). Through after-school programs, field trips, volunteer work, fund-raising activities and mentoring, the YEC helps young people ages seven to 17 mature into responsible young adults who contribute their time and talents in the community.
The evening also includes a cocktail hour, silent auction, dinner, entertainment from Vibe 5 and a presentation from the Youth Empowerment Center. As a “blue tie” event, guests are encouraged to wear a blue dress, suit, tie, and/or accessories.

What/where/when: The Community Action Partnership of the Greater Dayton Area is planning the The Fourth Annual Blue Moon Affair from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at the Schuster Center in downtown Dayton.
Why are they celebrating? This annual event raises money for Community Action Partnership’s Youth Empowerment Center (YEC), which gives youth ages seven to 17 a place to go every weekday where they receive valuable financial literacy and entrepreneurship training, social skill building opportunities and mentoring support. The Blue Moon Affair will celebrate Community Action Partnership’s efforts while raising funds to sustain the agency’s youth programming.

Making a difference: Programming at the Youth Empowerment Center focuses on entrepreneurship, financial management and life skills. At the center, young people receive social skills and character development education, with the goal of increasing their personal and professional achievement.
   The YEC program emphasizes community service and volunteerism and youth are encouraged to make a life-long commitment to helping others. As early as age seven, YEC participants are exposed to higher education with the goal of motivating them toward high academic performance and the pursuit of higher education.
