The Community Action Partnership of the Greater Dayton Area continues to provide emergency energy payment assistance this winter for eligible households. The Winter Crisis Program begins M continues through Thursday, March 31, or until funds are depleted.
Under the Winter Crisis Program, eligible households may receive a one-time payment of up to $175 for a utility emergency and $750 for bulk fuel. The Winter Crisis funds can pay a customer’s initial payment for the Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP Plus), a PIPP Plus default, a reconnection fee or a deposit. Users of bulk fuel, propane or bottled gas or solid fuels may also be eligible for assistance. A customer may receive a delivery of fuel if their tank contains 25 percent or less of its capacity.
Income eligibility for the Winter Crisis Program is 175 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. For a family of four, household income cannot exceed $42,525 a year. They must be on PIPP Plus or sign up for PIPP Plus or another payment plan.
Montgomery County customers may call 1-866-504-7379 beginning at 6 a.m. to make an appointment to re-certify their PIPP Plus status and apply for the Winter Crisis Program. Several attempts may be required to make an appointment due to the high volume of calls.
Customers may be seen at 719 S. Main St. in Dayton or at 5250-A N. Dixie Dr. in Dayton. Customers should be aware of the following new procedures:
• If you attend college, you must provide a current tuition/fee bill and a financial aid breakdown showing grants, loans, scholarships and other sources of financial aid.
• If your income is zero, you must provide proof of your last source of income.
• If you are a renter, you must provide a copy of your current lease and landlord’s name, address and telephone number.
• If you live in HUD/government-assisted housing, you must provide a Tenant Eligibility and rent Procedures Form (HUD) or Housing Voucher Notice of Rent Change Form (Section 8).
A next day appointment procedure has been established to assist
• Customers who are scheduled for disconnect;
• Customers who are currently shut off;
• Customers who are transferring or applying for new service;
• Customers with less than 25 percent bulk fuel (Winter Crisis Program only);
• Customers who need to report a major income change;
• Customers who have expired PIPP Plus accounts.
All appointments must be scheduled through the toll-free automated line at 1-866-504-7379. The line for next day appointments is available Monday through Friday from 4-6 p.m. Customers with next day appointments will be seen at 719 S. Main St. from 8-9 a.m. Monday through Friday.
